British Program

IGCSE

We offer international, culturally sensitive and highly recognized IGCS courses from Cambridge and London Universities, where the emphasis is on higher level thinking skills and application, making the process of learning just as important as the examination result. Most students take a combination of IGCSE subjects and AHD courses for High School credit.

The General Certificate Of The (IGCSE)

It is an academic international system developed by University of Cambridge, London University and British Council.  The study for this international program divided into two levels along four school years in Jordan: A Level  (which is recommended for higher tier students) is based on the O-Level.

Ordinary Level  :  This level is completed in the ninth and tenth basic  level.

Advanced Level : This level is completed in the eleventh and twelfth grade.

Tips On How To Prepare For (IGCSE) Exam

1.   Make bite-size summaries for key subjects.

2.   Do your homework consistently during the year which means that you should take quick tips and hints regularly.

3.   After midyear examinations, learn from your mistakes and work on improving your grades.

4.   Keep it in your mind that you need to get grades from A-star to C, because a D or lower is a fail.

5.   Link to IGCSE past papers, in this way you’ll know how everything is sorted when it comes to the real exam.

6.   Before the exams plan to revise specific topics in each subject – not everything at once.

7.   If there are any parts of your work you don’t understand, ask for help from your subject teacher.

8.   Don’t leave empty spaces in the exam. Write whatever you know.

9.   Never try to cheat in any way or in any form because it is illegal.

Jordan Tawjihi Equivalency Standards For (IGCSE):

To achieve the equivalency to the Jordanian Tawjihi (Jordanian school leaving certificate) you must comply with the following:

Firstly: General conditions for equivalency :
  • Student must have completed twelve academic years of schooling.
  • Student must have passed at least two subjects at the Advanced Level (A-Level)

in addition to six subjects at the  Ordinary Level (O-Level). Passing grades should be A-E in the  A-levels and A-D in the O-Levels.

  • Arabic should be one of the eight subjects that an Arab student applies for in an Arab country.
  • The subject should be one of the following:
Level Title Code Papers Board
Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Arabic 8602 or 8AR01 6011 or6AR01 Edexcel
A Level Arabic 9602 or 9AR01 6011,(6AR01) , 6012 (6AR02) Edexcel
IGCSE / O level Classical Arabic 7603 or 4CA0 7603 or 4CA0 Edexcel
IGCSE / O level Arabic (First Language) 4308 or 4AR0 4308 or 4AR0 Edexcel
IGCSE / O level First Lang. Arabic 0508 0508 CIE
O Level Arabic 3180 3180 CIE
Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Arabic Lang. 8680 8680 CIE
A Level Arabic 9680 9680 CIE

The same subject in two levels is considered two separate subjects in the equivalency. For example, if a student takes biology in the advanced level as well as the ordinary level, the twosubjects are considered separately.

  • In addition to A-levels and O-levels, students graduating from Jordanian schools must pass both  levels of the following subjects, and that is during the eleventh and twelfth grades:
  • Arabic  language (communication skills), Islamic Education (for Muslim students) and general education in the Jordanian curriculum for students graduating in the year 2007/2008.
  • Students graduating from foreign schools outside Jordan must pass tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades and provide certificates that are accredited as appropriate, in addition to A-level and O-level certificates accredited by the British Council in Amman.
  • Computing is considered a science subject at both levels.
  • Graduation year is the last year during which a student can acquire the requirements of the equivalency.

Secondly: Equivalency in the Scientific Stream :

To gain Tawjihi equivalency with the scientific stream, the following is required:

  • Six passes in O-level/IGCSE/GCSE exams including:
  • One pass in Arabic
  • Two passes in exams of the sciences
  • Two passes in A-level – the other A-level may be a full A-Level in science subject or an AS/A2 in any science subject or two AS’s in two Science subjects.
  • One full A-level in mathematics or in physics.
  • One full A-level in mathematics or in physics.
  • The other A-level may be a full A-Level in science subject or an AS/A2 in any science subject or two AS’s in two Science subjects.

Thirdly: Equivalency in the Literary Stream :

To gain Tawjihi equivalency with the literary stream, the following is required:

  • Six passes in O-level/IGCSE/GCSE exams including:
  • One pass in Computer Studies or Information Technology.
  • One pass in Mathematics
  • Two passes in A-level
  • The other A-level may be an AS/A2 in any literary subject or
  • One AS in a literary subject and one AS in a scientific subject.
  • Two AS’s in any two literary subjects or
  • One full A-level must be in Arabic

Fourthly: a student is allowed to repeat the equivalency in order to improve their scores after one year has passed after the last equivalency, and that is by repeating one or two subjects from the previous equivalency.

Fifthly: the final percentage of a score is calculated as follows:

A* = 98           C = 75

A = 95             D = 65

B = 85             E = 55

The sum of all percentages is then divided by the total number of subjects.
